  • Abstract: Survey evidence indicates that false and even bizarre beliefs are widely held – for example, that 25% of Europeans believe the moon landings were faked. I argue that this evidence should not be taken at face value. Combining empirical data and philosophical argument, I argue that many more people report believing bizarre claims than actually believe them.
